Kea
How To Get There
There is something really special about arriving on a Greek island by boat and this particularly applies to the island of Kea. The ferry only takes an hour and departs from the port of Lavrio on the mainland, which is an easy forty minute drive down the main highway from Athens airport.
There are plenty of direct flights to Athens from the UK and it is approximately a 3 hour journey. You can fly direct from Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Luton and Manchester.
First Med Holidays offer a full travel service including flights, car hire and private taxi transfers as well as apartments, hotels and villas on an accommodation-only basis.

Korissia, Kea
On the western side of the island is Agios Nikolas Bay and deep within it lies the port of Korissia or 'Livadi' - considered to be one of the safest natural harbours in the Mediterranean.
Korissia is the port of Kea and is where ferries from the mainland arrive and leave. So even if you are not staying here, it's the first place you'll encounter when you reach the island and is well worth a stop off. With its blue domed church sitting opposite its old lighthouse, this is a delightful little harbour where a jumble of traditional houses tumble down from the surrounding hillsides to a waterfront lined with cafes, tavernas and shops.
Within easy reach of the capital town of Ioullis and the rest of Kea, Korrisia makes a great base from which to explore the island. However, if you are not inclined to stray too far, this lovely port also has a long sandy (and uncrowded) beach that stretches as far as the headland and the charming chapel of Agios Georgos - the perfect spot to while away your days before wandering back to spend a pleasurable evening over a drink and a meal in the harbour.

The pretty hamlet of Koundouros with its traditional windmills is a lovely spot to visit for lunch
